The Multi Channel software supports an unlimited amount of instruments.
These instruments can all be used individually, in one application, each performing its own
measurements with its own settings.
Signals of different instruments can be shown in individual oscilloscope graphs, but also in
a single oscilloscope graph, but they will be unrelated.
A much more interesting feature is combining multiple instruments into a larger combined instrument. By combining instruments, an instrument can be created with (much) more channels, when more channels are required than one instrument can offer. It is also possible to to create a mix of channels with different specifications, by combining instruments with standard inputs and instruments with differential inputs.
Combining instruments is supported by the Handyscope HS3, the Handyscope HS4 and the Handyscope HS4 DIFF. These instruments can be combined in any thinkable combination. Combining a Handyscope HS3 and two Handyscope HS4's will result in a combined oscilloscope with 10 input channels.
To combine the instruments, a special connection between the instruments is required, to synchronize the acquisitions systems of the instruments. This connection is achieved by plugging a special cable to the extension connectors of each instrument. For more information regarding this cable, please contact TiePie engineering.
In the Multi Channel software the instruments that are connected to each other can be combined. Triggering can be done on any of the input channels. The combined instrument behaves as any other instrument, so all features in the Multi Channel software are available for the combined instrument.
