The Handyscope HS4 and Handyscope HS4 DIFF have an eeprom on board that contains the calibration constants for the instrument
as well as information about the model and installed options. This information is stored together with a CRC code.
When the software for the Handyscope HS4 and Handyscope HS4 DIFF is started, the content of the eeprom is read and
the CRC is determined.
When the determined CRC matches the stored CRC, the data that is read is valid.
When the determined CRC does not match the stored CRC, the data from the eeprom is corrupted and this message is
displayed.
Possible causes:
- Computer has been in stand-by
- Lack of power
Computer has been in stand-by
A situation where this error can occur is when the computer has been in stand-by.
In that case, disconnect the instrument before putting the computer in stand-by and plug it back in after
"waking up" the computer.
Lack of power
In certain situations, a lack of sufficient power can cause corrupted data when reading the eeprom, resulting in this
error message.
When the instrument is connected to a laptop computer or to a USB hub, this occasionally happens. In that case, try to
power the instrument externally.
For more information, refer to the classroom page on external power.
If the above mentioned solutions do not solve the problem, contact TiePie engineering
with your instrument model and serial number at hand.
