Opel Agila with electrical problems

A new automotive application article about an Opel Agila with a badly running engine is added to the Automotive section of the website.

An Opel Agila runs bad and generates lots of throttle related error codes. The garage replaces the throttle body, throttle position sensors, the ECM and even a part of the wiring harness, to no avail. When measuring the vital signals with an automotive oscilloscope, the cause of the problems is revealed.

64 bit drivers available for Windows Vista and Windows 7

New drivers for the following instruments are available for download:

Major differences in these new drivers are:

  • These drivers include 64 bit versions for Windows Vista 64-bit and Windows 7 64-bit.
  • The drivers for the Handyprobe HP3 have been improved to solve a problem in streaming measurements with certain block size/sampling rate combinations.

Saab 9-5 with intermittent hiccups

A new automotive application article about a Saab 9-5 that that experiences intermittent "hiccups" is added to the Automotive section of the website.

The engine of a 1999 Saab 9-5 intermittently shows a "hiccup" but then continues to run properly. Over time, the problem became worse and and at some point, the car would not start for 20 minutes. The owner consulted a garage that concluded that the special Direct Ignition cassette needed replacement. Unfortunately that did not solve the problem. Time to start measuring properly, using an automotive oscilloscope.

Multi Channel software update, version 1.0.19

Version 1.0.19 of the Multi Channel software is now available for download. A demo version is also available, which can be used without connecting measuring instruments.

This is a list of some of the changes:

  • The demo software displays a dialog on startup in which the user can select which instrument to create. After user selection, a demo function generator is only created if the created demo instrument contains a generator.
  • When loading a desktop file in the demo software, the user is not asked which instrument should be created, but instrument(s) as in file are created, as well as the same number of function generators.
  • Hints are shown in the status bar.
  • ATS5004D connection test can now be used in block- as well as streaming mode (when not measuring).
  • A graph base scale can now follow the position of the last data in a data collector.
  • When opening a WinSoft transient recorder file, the graph is set to follow the first created data collector.
  • Handyscope HS4 record length can now be set to smaller values for streaming measurements.
  • Slope measurement added to cursor window measurements.
  • Command line parameters -Save* added. Can be used for saving: desktop files, instrument files, generator files and images of graphs.
  • Measure mode button added to instrument toolbar.

Version 1.0.18 of the Multi Channel software is now available for download. A demo version is also available, which can be used without connecting measuring instruments.

This is a list of some of the changes:

  • New instrument Handyprobe HP3 is supported.
  • Log-I/O's now disappear when their source does.
  • References of logarithmic signals can now also be made invisible.
